SUCCESS STORY: REV. DANIEL DOGO

Over the past two years, Rev. Daniel Dogo had experienced a form of clinical depression, which almost took his life. He was hospitalized for two and a half months and strictly prescribed anti-depressants. His depression was compounded by other circumstances, such as persecution from the Islamic radicals and a marital struggle.

His depression had enticed him into isolation, where he withdrew from communicating with ministry partners at home and abroad. His suicidal thoughts led him to a life of loneliness, to the extent that he entered into financial, mental, and social problems and a experienced spiritual breakdown. Rev. Daniel had lost hope of ever being able to come out of this deep depression.

Hearing of his depression, ABCs sent him messages of hope and encouragement about how any Bible believing Christian dealing with emotional disorders can find relief in the Word of God—drawing from Elijah’s experience in 1 Kings 19.

Rev. Daniel said, “The exhortation [of ABC counselors] was on-point” in such a profound way that ultimately helped him to experience a supernatural peace. Rev. Daniel felt genuinely cared for. The intentional communication and prayer that he received from ABC

counselors, coupled with the Biblical Soul Care video resources sent to him on depression (from ABCs’ 2020 conference) brought hope and joy back into his life. ABCs continues to maintain weekly contact with him.

Because of the ways God was able to work in him through his experience with ABCs, Rev. Daniel feels a desire to take the same comfort, love, and encouragement he received to other persecuted churches in Northern Nigeria, where there is an abundance of wounded people in need of Biblical Soul Care.
