What We Do
ABCs identifies faithful and mature believers, and equips them with tools to engage in Biblical counseling, or a more holistic counseling approach that we call Biblical Soul Care (BSC). ABCs uses the imagery of a fruit tree (Galatians 5:16–25; Psalm 1:1–3; Matthew 7:17) whose roots represent the heart (Luke 6:43–45; Jeremiah 17:9) to explain the focus of its soul care model. This scalable approach helps people dig deep and identify the true Biblical root of most behavioral, emotional, and relational problems. ABCs helps train volunteers on this model and has realized great gains in doing so.
Due to their many responsibilities, pastors and/or leaders are not able to adequately provide necessary Biblical counseling to members in their church body, while the rate of sin and suffering grows in their congregation requiring counseling help. Referring church members to outside counseling is typically what many pastors reluctantly resort to, but it doesn’t have to be this way. Assigning other faithful, mature believers (2 Timothy 2:2) within the church to assist with counseling is the most biblical thing to do (Ephesians 4:11–16)
